Past Positions

For Connor Christian, frontman & principal songwriter of The Southern Gothic, life has always been about the journey.  The son of an American serviceman & diplomat, that journey started at 6 months old, when his family moved from Los Angeles to Jakarta, Indonesia and from there on to places such as Singapore, South Korea, and Belgium, as well as stints all over the US.  “I never lived anywhere long enough to think of it as a hometown, to make those lifelong memories and associations, so I learned to take little pieces from every stop and make them part of my story.”

That story led Connor to Atlanta GA as a young adult.  Stints in several other bands led to the formation of The Southern Gothic with former Truckadelic drummer Shawn Thacker.  What started as a high energy, house cover band at venerated Atlanta dive bar, Dixie Tavern, grew along with Connor’s writing to become the band that Billboard Magazine called it’s ‘Band on the Verge’.  Ten months later, the band’s second album, ‘New Hometown’ debuted #1 on Billboard’s Heatseeker chart and #17 on it’s country albums chart.  The same month, the first single from the record, “Sheets Down” reached #1 on CMT’s Pure Country 12-Pack Countdown, a spot it held for 4 weeks.  The album, a 20-song semi-autobiographical opus, equal parts Tennessee Williams & Homer, “Tumbleweed Connection” era Elton John, Guns n Roses and Chris Stapleton - tells the story of a man looking for a home, and artist searching for his muse, and a band finding its own way.

Kyle Pudenz performed on tour with The Southern Gothic from 2021-2023, playing fiddle, mandolin, lead guitar, and singing background vocals. He also played fiddle, mandolin, and string arrangements on their 2023 album “One More For The Road.”

Performing for US Air Force troops at Al Dhafra Air Base (UAE)

Jared Blake first became known to the world when he performed on Season 1 of NBC’s #1-rated show, ‘The Voice’, and landed Top 4 on Team Blake Shelton. His performance of ‘Use Somebody’ (Kings of Leon) reached #16 on the iTunes Charts, preceded by his performance of ‘Not Ready to Make Nice’ (Dixie Chicks) reaching #23 on the iTunes Charts, with his recordings hitting the iTunes Chart more than 50 times since their release. Blake signed a recording contract with Skiddco Music/Grammy-winning producer Skidd Mills. Jared was the label’s first country act to be signed in Nashville.

As Jared Blake’s electric guitar/utility player from 2017-2022, Kyle had the privilege of touring around the world to perform for the men & women of the US Air Force on active military bases. As a band member of Blake’s “Nashville Cartel,” he also performed with artists including Jared Weeks (Saving Abel), Bigg Vinny (Trailer Choir), Chris Kirkpatrick (*NSYNC), Darryl Worley, and James Otto. He is featured as the electric violinist on Blake’s EP “‘Til Morning Light,” released in 2014.

Sweet yet sassy, vintage yet fresh, an old soul with a new vision and some incredible comedic timing, country music songstress Jenny Tolman is the breath of fresh air that the genre needs now. Having woven the incredible storyline of her life into her music thus far, Tolman has found a way to create albums which tie up all that life has handed her – both the good and the bad and the downright tragic – and makes it sound beautiful. On her new album Married in a Honky Tonk, Tolman brings a kaleidoscope of stories and emotions to the country music table with the swagger of a certified superstar.

Kyle Pudenz performed on tour as the “Milkman of Jennyville” on fiddle & mandolin from 2019-2022. He was featured in her music videos “Invent a T-Shirt” and “Rock N’ Roll to My Country Soul,” as well as her live performance videos for “Rock N’ Roll” and “My Welcome Mat.”

Barrage 8 was a touring show created in 2014 by John Crozman, Dean Marshall and Tony Moore, the original creators of the hit show Barrage. Utilizing the same energy, panache and innovative stage performance that Barrage was known for, Barrage 8 features all the instruments in the modern string family. The "8" in the name represents a re-imagining of the string octet: 5 violins, viola, cello and double bass. This instrumentation drives a rich and powerful sonic palette that further explores the musical diversity in the Barrage 8 compositions and arrangements. Barrage 8 presents what the Barrage name has come to represent worldwide: "a memorable presentation of music, from many genres and cascading generations, delivered in a way not seen or heard before."

Kyle Pudenz joined the premier cast of Barrage 8 in the fall of 2015, and toured full-time with the octet from 2016-2017, both inside the U.S. and around the world, performing on violin, 7-string electric violin, guitar, mandolin, and vocals. Best known for his work as an actor on shows including The Dukes of Hazzard, Smallville, and The Haves & Have Nots, John Schneider has also achieved international success as a country music artist throughout his career. In the early 1980s, following the success of Dukes of Hazzard, Schneider was signed to Scotti Brother Label. His debut album, “Now or Never”, reached no. 8 on the US Country Billboard charts, and his single of the same name – a remake of the classic Elvis Presley song – remains the top charting Elvis cover of any genre. From 1984 to 1987 Schneider released six albums under MCA Nashville including his no. 1 album “A Memory Like You” and the quintessential “Greatest Hits” album.

He released his smash hit, Ruffled Skirts in 2017. The album was recorded in his flooded home, where friends from all over appeared to help John realize his forgotten love of singing and storytelling. Shortly after, in 2018, Schneider released his 5-album project The Odyssey, an exploration of self through music. Along the way, John reunites with his love of music and old friends, who left a door open for him.

Kyle toured as band leader for John Schneider’s “Hazzard Nation Band” from 2018-2019, playing acoustic guitar, fiddle, and singing background vocals.
